STEM

At Kells Lane, STEM brings together Mathematics, Science, Computing and Design & Technology to give children a powerful set of tools for understanding and shaping the world around them. These four subjects are deeply connected — the mathematical thinking developed in one lesson, the scientific curiosity sparked in another, the coding skills built at a screen and the problem-solving instincts nurtured through design all reinforce and enrich each other across the curriculum. Our STEM subjects sit at the heart of our commitment to developing ambitious, resilient learners who are not afraid to ask questions, test ideas, make mistakes and try again. In a rapidly changing world, we want every child at Kells Lane to leave school with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive — and STEM is central to that vision.

STEM at Kells Lane also connects closely to our curriculum drivers of Conservation and Conflict — helping children understand the scientific and technological challenges facing our planet, think critically about the world they will inherit and develop the problem-solving skills to make a positive difference. Whether your child is investigating a scientific question, coding their first programme, solving a complex mathematical problem or designing and building a working model, they are developing the curiosity, creativity and resilience that define a remarkable learner.
