Religious Education
At Kells Lane, Religious Education gives your child the opportunity to explore some of life's biggest questions — about belief, belonging, identity and what it means to be human. Following the Gateshead Agreed Syllabus, children learn about a range of faiths and worldviews, developing genuine respect and appreciation for the diverse beliefs and traditions that make up our communities, both locally and globally. Rather than simply learning facts, children are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions and share their own ideas — developing the kind of empathy and open-mindedness that will stay with them long after they leave primary school.
RE at Kells Lane sits at the heart of our Culture curriculum driver, helping children celebrate difference, challenge assumptions and grow into kind, thoughtful individuals who are ready to engage with a diverse and complex world. Across school, children record their learning in floor books, giving them a real sense of ownership and the chance to revisit and reflect on their thinking over time. Whether your child is exploring the story of a world religion, discussing a big question about life and meaning, or hearing from a visitor about their faith and experiences, RE at Kells Lane is always a space where every voice is valued and every question is welcome. We want every child to leave our RE lessons feeling curious, confident and compassionate — one step closer to Finding Their Remarkable.
Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE. Please contact your child’s class teacher to discuss further. Religious Education Curriculum Yearly Overview
