Creative Arts
At Kells Lane, the Creative Arts are celebrated, valued and woven into the fabric of school life. Art and Music are not extras — they are essential. They give children a unique and powerful way to express themselves, make sense of the world and connect with the thoughts, feelings and experiences of others across time and culture. Our Creative Arts curriculum is carefully planned to give every child rich, progressive experiences in both subjects, building knowledge, skill and confidence from the Early Years all the way through to Year 6. The Creative Arts connect closely to our Culture curriculum driver — helping children explore and celebrate the diversity of human creativity across history, traditions and communities from around the world — and sit at the heart of our belief that every child at Kells Lane has something remarkable to express.
Whether your child is learning to mix colour and tone in Art, studying the work of a great painter or sculptor, singing in an ensemble, learning to read music or composing their own piece, the Creative Arts give them something no other subject can — the chance to create something entirely their own. We believe that artistic and musical education builds not just skill but character — nurturing creativity, resilience, empathy and self-belief in every child.
