Home Learning
Guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) indicates that, in primary schools, traditional homework has limited impact on improving pupils’ attainment. In light of this research, our approach prioritises high-quality teaching and meaningful learning during the school day. However, we recognise that some families value opportunities to support learning at home, so we offer a range of optional activities such as reading, practising key skills, and engaging in topic-related tasks. These are designed to be flexible, enjoyable, and supportive—allowing parents and carers to extend their child’s learning in a way that suits their family.
Once children reach Y6, we do start to encourage children to complete their home learning tasks more regularly in order to support their transition into secondary school.
